Description
Description
Coconut wax is a fully hydrogenated plant wax used in candle making and also in cosmetics. Its low melting point of 33-35 ºC makes it suitable for container candles and for massage candles, which melt into an oil that can be spread on the skin. It contains no additives or preservatives.
Characteristics
- Format: pieces
- Colour: off-white
- Odour: very mild coconut
- Origin: plant-based, fully hydrogenated
- Melting point: 33-35 ºC
- Optimal pouring temperature: 50 ºC
- No additives or preservatives
- Storage: in a very cool place, at around 20 ºC and away from sunlight
- Because of its low melting point, it may arrive melted in summer
Recommended uses
- Container candles (glass jars, tins, pots)
- Massage candles, combined with butters and vegetable oils
- Cosmetic formulations such as creams, balms, oils or soaps
- Brands and manufacturers buying in volume (packs from 20 kg)
Tips for use
- Melt the coconut wax (with the butters and vegetable oils, for massage candles) in a double boiler or over low heat.
- Add fragrance or essential oils: up to 7% in massage candles.
- To colour with mineral pigments, first mix them in a mortar with a few drops of oil to avoid lumps.
- Pour at around 50 ºC into the container and place the wick in the centre when the top layer starts to set.
